The best vanity words are gone
None of the 1,000 top-ranked vanity words is available in any toll free prefix, and only 400 numbers that spell a common word of seven letters or more were available on November 1, 2026. Here's what's still out there.
We rank vanity words with the Master Million, our list of 1.59 million words and phrases ranked mainly by how often they appear in company names, trademarks and web addresses. A word spells a number through its first seven letters: 1-800-CONTACTS rings the same number as 1-800-CONTACT. We checked every entry of seven letters or more against every prefix, for every monthly snapshot.
None of the top 1,000 (SYSTEMS, MEDICAL, COMPANY, ROOFING and so on) is available in any prefix. To get past brand names and fragments, we also took the entries that are common English: 11,764 words, names and places of seven letters or more, which spell 11,183 different numbers. Only 400 of those numbers were available on November 1, 2026, out of 67,098 possible in the six prefixes that still have room. In March 2018 it was 2,418. 833 went from 1,754 to 88. What's left is mostly names, places, brand names and uncommon words.
