I used to do that

A hand-drawn hunter with a rifle, saying: shhhhhh we are hunting 800 numbers!

At times I did. I called myself a telenumeric consultant, tracking down and getting numbers that were stuck in the cracks. Being a RespOrg now gives me more resources and more information, but it also means I can’t get away with things I used to do before. I want to help people, but I can’t bend the rules the way I could when I was starting out.

Information on every number

I have a lot of relationships and connections now, and I try to give everyone the information to pursue things themselves. I can’t pursue everything. I give information on every number, but every number obviously isn’t obtainable. Everyone wants a number, so I do my best to categorize and label them, to make it easy to know what’s available and what really isn’t. I don’t say a number is unavailable just because it costs more.

What helps the most people

I also have to do what helps the most people in the long run. If I can get a single number, or make a connection with that phone company to get hundreds of numbers for customers, which should I do?

If I tried to get the number every visitor wanted, I’d never be able to provide this much information for everyone. I do as much as I can for everyone, but I’m not a big organization, and I have to stay focused on building the system rather than chasing after things that aren’t available. Chasing one unavailable number costs far more than most people expect, and it usually ends the same way.

What I can do

I can show you everything that is available, help you pick the best one, and watch the one you wanted for free, in case it ever comes back. Many good ones are available for $49. Here’s every way to still get a number someone else has, and why some numbers aren’t for sale at any price.
