Look up vanity numbers from your AI assistant
October 2026
I'm Bill Quimby. If you use Claude or another AI assistant, it can look up
vanity numbers here directly. Ask it for a vanity number for your business, and
it can check the word in all seven toll free area codes, find close versions
available for $49, show local numbers in your state, and tell you what any
number is today. When a number spells a word, it shows numbers like it you can
order. It can look things up, pass along your request for a number
held by another vendor, and set up a notification about a number when you give it
your email (you confirm it by email first). It can't buy anything.
Every answer links back here, where you see the number's status today and get it.

Any assistant that lets you add an MCP server by its address can use the same
one, such as Perplexity on its paid plans. Developers can add it in Cursor,
VS Code or Gemini CLI.
What it answers
- Search a word: the word in all seven toll free area codes
(800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, 833) with each one's status and price, the Smart
Pick, close versions available for $49, and local numbers when you give a state.
- Check a number: any toll free or local number, by digits or
by spelling, and what it is today, including which phone company has a local
number now, with each company's page on NewLocalNumbers.com. When the number
spells a word (512-725-5387 is 512-PALLETS), it also shows numbers like it you
can order: local ones in its area first, then toll free.
- Browse a kind of business: the best available toll free
numbers for a business like plumbing, and recently disconnected ones you can
request, up to 10 of each.
- A number's history: who has held a toll free number and when,
from Resporgs.com's records.
- Request a number: for a number held by another vendor, it
can pass along your request with your name and email. I review each one by
hand to confirm it's available and what it would cost, and answer you by email.
It costs nothing to ask.
- Get a notification: give it your email and it sets one up,
which you confirm by email first. A toll free number is followed in all seven
toll free area codes; a local number in every area code of its state, with a
check each month of whether it's still in use, and, if no phone company has its
block yet, word when one is given it, so you can be first to ask that company for
the number. When you confirm, I send you what I have on it now; after that, I
email you on the 15th when it or a related number has changed, and every three
months to say it's still on. Once your notification is confirmed, your assistant
can include your email when it looks
something up for you: my suggestions fit what you're looking for, and for a
number you get your own, larger allowance of lookups and whether a local
number is in use.
Good to know
Toll free answers come from the toll free registry's monthly data, and each
answer says which month. Local block data comes from NALENND®, the North American
Local Exchange NPA NXX Database from Quentin Sager Consulting.
Lookups are one word or number at a time, with daily limits. My
privacy page explains what I keep.
